Tensile strength is a crucial property for the function, safety and durability of all concrete structures. The general procedure to assess tensile properties from existing structures perform indirect tests predict based on established empirical relationships. In this study, direct was investigated using cylindrical specimens. aim study propose, test evaluate method A total 16 specimens were tested under deformation-controlled tensile-loading until failure. samples prepared with 10 or 15 mm grooves at mid-height obtain cracking in groove region, where crack-opening sensors installed. load corresponding deformation recorded continuously during load–crack-width relationship concrete. showed that can be used provides important insights regarding assessment results improve structural health monitoring thereby ensure their durability.
